One of the brightest new voices in Telugu film music, Vivek Sagar extends his compositional aesthetic impressively across the four tracks of Sammohanam. He employs a mischievous horn section on an electro-informed cascading swing beat (“Oohalu Oorege Gaalanthaa”) and constructs a coy love song that builds into a soaring rock anthem (“Manasainadedo”). Elsewhere, he unleashes a host of Indian and Western classical instrumentation (“O Cheli Thaara”) and brings proceedings to a graceful close with Chaitra Ambadipudi’s quiet, comforting vocals on “Kanulalo Thadigaa”.
