Three-Time RITA Award Winner Delivers Another Heart-Stopping Thriller
After a disastrous Middle East mission ends his six-year Army Ranger career, Finn McGregor needs some downtime. A peaceful month in the woods sounds like the perfect way to decompress. But peace isn't on the agenda once he crosses paths with publishing executive Dana Lewis, a neighbor who is nursing wounds of her own. Someone seems bent on disrupting her stay in the lakeside cabin she inherited from her grandfather. As Finn and Dana work together to discover who is behind the disquieting pranks, the incidents begin to take on a menacing tone. And when it becomes apparent Dana's foe may have deadly intent, Finn finds himself back in the thick of the action--ready or not.
Bestselling author Irene Hannon draws readers into a web of psychological suspense where danger lurks in dark corners . . . and keeps them captive until the very last page.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In the final book of her Men of Valor contemporary romantic suspense series, Hannon tells the story of the healing power of love and faith. Finn McGregor has rented a remote cabin in Beaumont, Mo., in an attempt to figure out his next life move now that his career as an Army Ranger has ended. He needs time to heal both physically and mentally, and space to do so away from his overprotective brothers. Dana Lewis, a romance book editor, has inherited her grandfather's cabin and come to heal from her own injuries after an accidental fall. Dana's screaming nightmare brings Finn running, and their shared religious faith and electric attraction keeps them together. When it appears that someone is using dangerous pranks to scare Dana away from the property, Finn uses his military training and skills to protect her. As the threats escalate both Dana and Finn discover a love that gives them courage when they need it most. Hannon expertly writes characters who embody human vulnerability and strength. Their journey takes readers in and out through the twisted lengths people will go to in order to protect their secrets, leading to a somewhat predictable ending.
Customer Reviews
An incredible romantic suspense novel.
This is a stand-alone story. The main characters from the first two books do appear in this one though. The family dynamics between the three brothers makes more sense if you have read the previous stories.
I have always thought of suspense novels as having a specific story progression. This novel is different in that while you have two viewpoints included. The first one is the main character that is in danger and trying to solve the mystery behind that danger. You also have the bad guy’s viewpoint interwoven throughout the book.
I really love the depth of both Finn and Dana. The author does a marvelous job of developing each of them and their friendship. The way she has them slowly learn to trust each other and share their traumatic incidents with each other was great.
I really liked the insight we get into what made the bad guys turn to a life of crimes. As the danger built we knew what was prompting it. We just didn’t know how things would come to a head and be resolved.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. I have chosen to write this review to express my personal opinion.

Summary: I found the book a bit slow for me. I usually love Irene Hannon books, this time I struggled to get through it at times. Dana was a unique character and her back story was interesting. Finn seemed a little flat, at the start, after all the build of from the other books. I wished I was more engrossed in the story line. It was only at the end that I found the twist at the end very exciting. The ending made the entire book worth it.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Revell for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone. TANGLED WEBS
TANGLED WEBS the third and last in her Men of Valor series. This is more about Finn, returning after 6 years in the Army / Middle East. Needing down time, goes to mountain to regroup. Midnight screams from a neighbor, who is Dana, who is also fighting her own battles. She is a publishing executive, in a cabin she had inherited. The pranks, turn serious, as Dana and Finn, try to find out why. Another winner for Irene and readers. She once again gives us a touch of romance, and the page turning of what is behind these attacks. Characters are well defined, plot is good, and flows to the end. Given ARC by Net Galley for my honest opinion of which I have given.
