Lonerism

Lonerism

Tame Impala's second album slides further down a spiral of psych-pop paranoia. Lonerism is a journey—one of isolation and illusion, led by mastermind Kevin Parker, whose dreamy, Lennon-esque drones evade the gravity of his own words. Opener "Be Above It" huffs and puffs under the insistent, titular chant, before "Apocalypse Dreams" dances along anxious piano jabs and "Elephant” trudges through swampy Sabbath sludge. But the sweetest hook comes with the saddest realisation on the woozy “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards".
