About The Epics

The Epics were a four-piece band consisting of Vic Elmes on guitar and lead vocals, Ian Jansen on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Alan Ross on bass, and Mike Blakely -- the brother of the Tremeloes' Alan Blakely -- on drums and backing vocals. Their history was cut short by a name change to the more promising sounding Acid Gallery. As the Epics they recorded a lyrical version of the Rolling Stones' "Blue Turns to Grey" for Pye Records. They left a slightly more visible legacy in their second incarnation, and Blakely and Elmes later worked with Jeff Christie in the latter's musical incarnation as Christie. ~ Bruce Eder
