About Syzygy
Syzygy are London, England-based duo Dominic Glynn and Justin McKay, who first met at the end of the 80s, when Glynn was working part-time providing BBC Television’s Doctor Who series with incidental music. Mutually inspired by Detroit techno (Derrick May, Juan Atkins, etc.), their first recordings emerged on the Infonet record label, before they adopted the names Mind Control and Zendik for two further 12-inch releases. They subsequently signed more permanently to Rising High Records as Syzygy. Two EPs, Discovery and Can I Dream, began to push their profile in the ‘intelligent techno’ club scene. A debut double album, meanwhile, drew its title from ‘the collective consciousness of the planet, a phenomenon for which there is no easy explanation’. An extended concept album, it took as its theme a musical fable of the earth’s development.
