About Speedy J

Joachim Paap earned the nickname Speedy J thanks to his fast mixing and scratching technique, which he employed as a DJ in the 1980s. He eventually recorded his own hard house material, and became the first European act to sign to Ritchie Hawtin’s Plus 8 Records. The track "Pull Over," from the 1991 compilation FROM OUR MIND TO YOURS, became a rave anthem. His third EP for Plus 8, RISE, featured another huge club hit, "Something For Your Mind." The popular Dutch DJ has also remixed the Shaman and Bjork, and has continued to evolve as an artist, exploring various facets of techno as well as industrial and hip-hop.
