Scraps

Based out of Brisbane, Australia, home-recording artist Laura Hill started working under the name Scraps as the banner for her homespun synth pop. Armed with subdued vocals, lo-fi keyboards, and various electronic takes on dreamy, twee songwriting, Hill compiled a debut album, Classic S***s 2006-2009, gathering together the best of her warm, homemade pop songs recorded up until that point. The album was released in 2011 on the Bedroom Suck label, and was soon followed by a flock of like-minded digital singles, EPs, and a 7" release entitled Secret Paradise in 2012. Scraps performed in various locales throughout the Australian underground, and a proper follow-up to her debut LP came in the form of Electric Ocean, released in early 2014. ~ Fred Thomas
