Palace Winter

About Palace Winter

Copenhagen-based duo Palace Winter operate in the middle-ground between synth, rock, and country music with an added dose of cinematic atmosphere. Initially, Australian singer/songwriter Carl Coleman and Danish producer/synth-wizard Caspar Hesselager played in separate bands -- Coleman in Sink Ships and Hesselager in the Rumour Said Fire. They met when their respective acts were sharing a tour bus in 2013, leading to a few impromptu jam sessions that had enough of a spark to lead to a fully-fledged project together. 2015 saw the release of their debut EP, Medication, which preceded their debut album, 2016's Waiting for the World to Turn, both of which were released through Copenhagen-based label Tambourhinocerous. The album led to an extensive touring schedule -- for which they drafted in Jacob Haubjerg (guitar) and Jens Bach (drums). However, when it came to their second album, 2018's Nowadays, they decided to remain as a duo in the studio for the sake of efficiency. Thier process for writing new music changed significantly in 2019, after Coleman moved to Tenerife. His lyrics would refelct his time their, as he was feeling a little lost in paradise, meanwhile Hesselager was eager to add in elements of hip-hop and soul into his productions; both perspectives came together on their third full-length, 2020's Keep Dreaming, Buddy. ~ Liam Martin
