Ol' Burger Beats

Often plundering classic soul and jazz vinyl for woozy, resonant samples, Ole-Birger Neergård is a Norwegian hip-hop producer and DJ who injects his creative collages with meaning beyond their seemingly relaxed vibe. Following a couple of self-released EPs, in 2014 Ol' Burger Beats issued his debut album, High Rhodes. After EPs recorded with both Kjartan Gaulfossen, and his boyhood heroes Side Brok, 2017 saw him join Oslo's Mutual Intentions for Mind Games. 2018 and 2019 brought the solo records Out of Sight, Out of Mind and Daybreaks, before a highly collaborative two years culminated in Dialogue, a politically charged album with Vuyo. Loft appeared in early 2022, an instrumental album written in tribute to New York's '60s and '70s free and spiritual jazz movement. 2024's 74: Out of Time found him in similarly reflective form, evoking the music and activism of 1974 with help from a plethora of rappers.
