About Nathan Fake

English artist Nathan Fake’s lush electronic arrangements are composed of equal parts technical wizardry and human emotion. Born in Norfolk, Fake (his real surname) first developed an interest in experimental dance sounds via fellow electronic artists Aphex Twin and The Orb, as he was drawn to the equipment they used and how they conjured such otherworldly noises from them. Fake started sharing his own fizzy creations in 2003, with early releases such as 2004’s “The Sky Was Pink” showcasing his ability to lay down a catchy synth melody and disrupt it with psychedelic feedback. This tension between melodiousness and cacophony defined his 2006 debut album, Drowning In a Sea of Love, a critically acclaimed breakthrough. He would experiment with sharper-edged percussion on 2009’s Hard Islands while also becoming a regular remixer for acts such as Radiohead and Jon Hopkins, even as he continues refining his signature sound on releases such as 2020’s Sanxenxo.
