About Michel Teló

Brazilian superstar Michel Teló was born in Medianeira, Parana in 1981, and was initially best known as the frontman for sertaneja outfit Grupo Tradicao, with whom he recorded six albums before leaving in 2008. A year later he released his debut solo effort, Balada Sertaneja, but it wasn't until 2010's Latin Grammy-nominated live album Ao Vivo that he became an international phenomenon, going on to perform in front of a combined 17 million fans on his 2011 "Fugidinha" tour. In the same year, his single "Ai Se Eu Te Pego" clocked up over 100 million views on YouTube, reached number one in over 15 countries, and was adopted as a celebratory anthem by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Rafael Nadal. ~ Jon O'Brien
