About Marvio Ciribelli

Brazilian jazz musician Marvio Ciribelli studied music composition with Armando Quezada and classical piano with Aurélio Silveira. Later on, he studied with the piano players and composers Antônio Adolfo, Luizinho Eça, and Ian Guest. Among the influential Brazilian musicians he has worked with, it can be mentioned, are Alex Malheiros (Azymuth), Altay Veloso, and Vanessa Rangel. Having recorded a special for the Canadian TV with Maria Eugênia, Ciribelli also has performed internationally. In Brazil, he played for 5,000 people at the Parque da Catacumba (Rio de Janeiro) in 1989, and participated in several jazz festivals like the Vitória Jazz Festival (Espírito Santo, 1994) and the Maceió Festival (Alagoas, 1995, where Ciribelli coordinated workshops presided by Florida University teachers). He also played at the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland) in 1993 and 1994. Toward the end of 1995, he participated in a special concert for Princess Sayako of Japan. As a member of the International Association of Jazz Educators/IAJE, Ciribelli has been teaching workshops on piano and Brazilian music for students and professional musicians worldwide. He also has writen songs in collaboration with Marcos Valle, Alex Malheiros, Luiz Eça, Ian Guest, and Dom Chacal. ~ Alvaro Neder
