About MARO
MARO is the professional name of Portuguese composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Mariana Secca. Her velvety, arid alto frames carefully crafted songs sung in Portuguese and English. In 2018, she released a 22-track eponymously titled debut album in three monthly volumes. The same year, she released the duo set Maro & Manel with Manuel Rocha, and It's OK, a solo collection of nine electro-acoustic folk songs in English. She spent much of 2019 touring and recording with Jacob Collier and appeared on his Djesse, Vol. 2. In 2021 she made several important guest appearances, among them recordings with Gerald Clayton and superstar production duo Odesza. She and Nasaya collaborated on the EP Pirilampo. In 2022 she issued the 14-track duo outing Can You See Me? written and produced with John Blanda. In 2023, she released the album Hortelã through Sony.
