L'Orage

L'Orage is an Italian folk-rock band from the mountainous Aosta Valley region. Taking its name from a Georges Brassens song, the group was formed in 2009 by singer/songwriter Alberto Visconti and musician brothers Rémy and Vincent Boniface. Seeking to combine traditional folk music, classic rock, and canzone d'autore (the genre associated with famous Italian and European songwriters like Fabrizio De André and the aforementioned Brassens), L'Orage released their debut, Come una Festa, in 2010. After achieving significant local popularity, L'Orage gained wider recognition at the national level thanks to their concerts and appearances at folk music festivals. In 2012, L'Orage won first prize at the prestigious Musicultura festival with their song "Queste Ferite Sono Verdi," and released their sophomore effort, La Bella Estate. In 2013, they performed a special concert backing up one of their idols, Roman songwriter Francesco De Gregori, who returned the favor by singing one of their songs, "La Teoria del Veggente." Later that year, the track appeared in L'Età dell'Oro, the band's third album. The first L'Orage album to be distributed by a major label, L'Età dell'Oro was also their first to break into the Italian Top 20. After performing again with De Gregori in 2015 at the majestic Verona Arena, L'Orage returned with Macchina del Tempo. ~ Mariano Prunes
