About Kepa Junkera
Folk music innovator Kepa Junkera became involved in the Spanish scene after beginning a recording and performing collaboration with the band Oskorri in 1983, playing the trikitixa, a Basque diatonic accordion. In 1988, his first original compositions were featured in an album blending traditional and contemporary elements. Triki Up and Triki Zoom followed in 1990 and 1991. A year later, he teamed up with John Kirkpatrick and Riccardo Tesi for the accordion trio project Trans-Europe Diatonic. He also participated in a project along with Ibon Koteron, and the two issued Leonen Orrozk in 1996. Kepa Junkera achieved international recognition after releasing his acclaimed Bilbao 00:00h in 1999. A greatest-hits collection entitled Tricky features many great moments from this artist's prolific recording career. ~ Drago Bonacich & Eugene Chadbourne
