Combining a beguilingly voluptuous tone, flawless technique, and unflappably calm stage presence, violinist Hilary Hahn is the epitome of a modern virtuoso. Aside from her exemplary playing of the classics—she took Bach’s solo violin music on a world tour—she has recorded for films (including M. Born in Lexington, Virginia, in 1979, Hahn made the often-difficult transition from prodigy to mature artist appear effortless. She was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia aged 10, and while studying there began her professional career, making her Carnegie Hall debut in 1996. By the time she graduated in 1999, she was already a major recording artist.
