About Evandro Mesquita

One of the founders of Blitz, Evandro Mesquita hadn't had success in his musical solo career, but continued to produce in the TV and cinema areas as an actor and scriptwriter. He also became a recording producer. Since the '70s, he was in the theatrical group Asdrúbal Trouxe o Trombone. Evandro Mesquita formed the core of what would soon be the Blitz in 1980, with Ricardo Barreto and Lobão. With the dissolution of one of the most important bands of the Brazilian rock movement of the '80s in March 1986, he departed for his solo career, helped by a TV ad in which he sang with Tina Turner. But his first solo album, Evandro, which was to be released in October, had problems with censorship (the tracks "Greve", "Sinfonia de Sapo, Balé de Vaga-lume," and "Acorda Pascoal") and was only distributed in the beginning of 1987. In the same year, he participated in the I Alternativa Nativa Festival at the Canecão, Rio, together with Lobão, Plebe Rude, Ira!, and Heróis da Resistência. With the meager results of his musical solo career, he became scriptwriter, working in the major TV Globo series Armação Ilimitada. As an actor, he worked on TV Globo's soap opera Top Model. He also wrote the film Não Quero Falar Sobre Isso Agora (Mauro Farias). His subsequent releases are Planos Aéreos (1988), Procedimento Normal (1989), and Almanaque Sexual Dos Eletrodomésticos E Outros Animais (1991). His solo career also had one hit, "Babilônia Maravilhosa." ~ Alvaro Neder
