About Eskaton

The French zeuhl band Eskaton recorded three albums that bear a similarity to Magma, no doubt helped by the fact that several of the group's members were also members of that band. Eskaton was formed in the late '70s by Paule Kleynnaert (vocals), Amara Tahir (vocals), Andre Bernardi (bass), Gerard Konig (drums), Alain Blesing (guitar), Gilles Rozenberg (organ, synthesizer), Eric Guillaume (electric piano), and Marc Rozenberg (electric piano). Although the band played similar music to that of Magma, with frantic repetitive female vocals and rumbling bass, they dispensed with that outfit's made-up language and instead sung their material in their native French with timely subject matter. ~ Geoff Orens
