Comrades are a Richmond, Virginia-based post-hardcore, post-rock, and Christian punk trio who employ a compelling blend of ambiance and discord. Founded in 2008 as an instrumental post-rock trio by husband and wife Joe (guitar) and Laura McElroy (clean vocals, bass), as well as Ben Trussell (drums, unclean vocals), the band issued their debut album, Safekeeper, in 2014 via Blood & Ink Records. Two years later they inked a deal with Facedown Records and released a sophomore effort, Lone/Grey. Trussell parted ways with the group the following year and started his own solo project under the moniker BJORN, making way for new drummer and screamer John Gaskill, who made his studio debut on 2019's For We Are Not Yet, We Are Only Becoming. ~ James Christopher Monger
