Baby Charles

U.K.-based R&B band Baby Charles, fronted by soul diva Dionne Charles, brings the sounds of the 1960s into the 21st century. The band is heavily influenced by the classic soul sounds of James Brown, Dyke & the Blazers, et al., and they've recorded their own versions of some of the old-school R&B tunes that have inspired them, but they also write original material that channels those influences into a contemporary sonic setting. After a couple of years of concentrating on live performances, they released their self-titled debut album in 2008.
