Description

Context helps you build a daily habit around meaningful sentences you encounter through language immersion.

When you find a new word, grab the entire sentence. You can paste from another app or use the camera to capture text from anywhere.

We will intelligently schedule flashcards that use this sentence to help you remember new words in context.

Context currently has Japanese-English, English-Japanese dictionaries built in. If you write your own definitions, you can use it to study any language.

FAVORITE ALBUM SO FAR ,

Best Iwatch Japanese learning app so far

This is my favorite app tied with anki! Because it really can go beyond beginner level (konnicha those kind of less than 5 words phrases where it’s completely useless when you are jlpt2+)

Anki helps me learn any new word I might need to know/ review old words.
this one will allow me to learn words at a slower pace, but these words will stick around easier because ideally you only add ones you actually come across in real life (and your brain is better at memorizing those then pure flash card)

I personally wish it also had the definition in Japanese so it is even more immersive, but that’s not as important as I’m currently having trouble finding how to use the flash card mode on my iwatch. (Like on the first picture of the iwatch Apple store)

Disclaimer: I have only used it for 1 hour but I have always knew if I like an app right from the get go. (Only have 3 apps that I regularly use and this will be one of them!)

I have tried 101, drop, and some other, but only anki/ iwatch can effectively help you level up after the beginner phase.

The word set is pretty complete for everyday language: I have found slangs that my friends just taught me, which is a huge plus!

One of the best apps for learning

I’ve got to say this is one of the most useful and favorite apps I’ve ever downloaded. Sometimes I come across not just words but sentences that I want to remember to study, and it makes words so much easier to learn. It’s not as rote as Anki or other systems. I actually open the app go go study through the day and it doesn’t feel like a chore because I get a better understanding and learn better.

Efficient and straight to the point

This app is exactly what I was looking for to use my Apple Watch to study vocab. It’s been fun to add words using the built in dictionary - which is very complete.

I also think it has a lot of potential, especially now that it seems the app is getting more frequent updates. I’ll definitely keep using it to see what new features will be installed.

Just one thing is that since I added a bunch of new words to the iPhone app these new ones still hasn’t been synced with the Apple Watch list, even though I tried turning it off and on again.

I’d appreciate being able to export my list, even if it’s in a text file, so that I can keep track of my words even if something happens to the app.

Great work though, I definitely recommend it!!

Developer Response ,

Thanks so much for your feedback! We would like to learn more about your words not syncing up with the Apple Watch: if you have any feedback please feel free to email us: takowords@gmail.com

EDIT:
We have released an update that should fix the issue with the Apple Watch that you were experiencing. Keep an eye out for export/import in a future update!
