Greatest Hits Remixed (Deluxe Edition)

Greatest Hits Remixed (Deluxe Edition)

After Triumph split in 1988, their label rush-released an abbreviated “hits” collection with which the band had always been dissatisfied. 2010’s Greatest Hits Remixed gave this beloved Canadian trio the opportunity to do a retrospective their way. Rather than simply remaster the old tracks, they went back and remixed them. In many cases, this resulted in improved versions of songs that had previously been clouded by the effects of '80s production. “Spellbound,” “I Live for the Weekend,” and “When the Lights Go Down” are much more in-your-face here than they'd been on the original mixes. Other songs, like “Rock and Roll Machine” and “Fight the Good Fight” lost some of their mystique in the remixing process. Still, the point of this project wasn't to replace the original recordings but to supplement them. Whether you prefer the originals or the remixes, these updated versions let longtime listeners examine the band’s playing with greater clarity than ever before. The new mixes bring out details that should surprise even diehard fans, making the listening experience brand-new even for lifelong followers.
