Best of Billy Currington

Best of Billy Currington

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Billy Currington or only familiar with his household hit “People Are Crazy” (featured here), Best of Billy Currington is a solid collection of the man’s catchiest and most moving tunes. It starts with the uplifting “I Got a Feelin’,” the first song from his 2002 eponymous debut album, before the heartfelt title track of Doin’ Somethin’ Right kicks down a sultry bedroom serenade. Although Currington’s 2004 duet with Shania Twain, “Party for Two,” is curiously absent (as is “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer”), the blue-collar anthem “That’s How Country Boys Roll” is here in all its weekend-celebrating glory, as is the driving “Tangled Up,” his 2007 top 30 single previously unavailable on any other collection. The humble “Walk a Little Straighter” touches on growing up with alcoholic parents and serves as a reminder that Currington can pen and perform a ballad where the heartstrings play louder than any guitar. Sequenced nonchronologically, the collection ends on an optimistic tone with the inspired “Swimmin’ in the Sunshine” and the amorous “She’s Got a Way with Me.”
