Though Joan Osborne and Jackie Greene—two artists with successful solo careers—handle the vocals for this Nashville-based supergroup, it’s Black Crowes drummer Steve Gorman who appears to be their guiding hand stylistically. This debut album sounds like it came directly from the early Black Crowes playbook. Top Nashville session guitarist Tom Bukovac reels off classic Southern rock licks (with a touch of British blues-rock) like he’s been saving them for this album. Tracks like “Turpentine,” “Tennessee Mud,” “Pocahontas,” and “Pretty Mess” (written by bassist Nick Govrik) represent a modern version of classic rock. Turn it up, dude.
