Depersonalisation

Depersonalisation

Advanced recording technology has let younger groups pile on as many instrumental tracks as they desire, creating a higher-fidelity but no less mysterious mix of guitars and keys than older groups from the analog age. Australia’s Nite Fields take the legacy of their elder countrymen like The Church and The Go-Betweens, transforming their psychedelic and/or literary moves into gothic shoegaze where Danny Venzin’s vocals moan in the backlight. “You I Never Knew” is the album’s obvious single, but “Fill the Void,” “Come Down,” the instrumental “Pay for Strangers,” and the seven-minute epic album closer, “Winter’s Gone,” demonstrate great depth and subliminal power.
