G.I.N.A

G.I.N.A

On his debut album G.I.N.A (“God Is Never Asleep”), Ghanaian rapper Amerado iterates on the Afro-rap subgenre alongside compatriots Eno Barony, Gidochi, Lasmid, Epixode, Fameye, and Efya, as well as Italy’s Laïoung and the UK’s S1mba. Delivering witty bars and melodic flows in both English and Twi, he evaluates aspiration, romance, and societal attitudes over instrumentation referencing Afropop, highlife, and reggae. Over brooding basslines and vibrant percussion, the artist born Derrick Sarfo Kantanka shuffles between the R&B-tinged melodies of “Got You” and lovers rock of “You Are the One” before familiar drill aesthetics permeate “Pay Me” and “666.”
