Remember Me (Deluxe Booklet Version)

Remember Me (Deluxe Booklet Version)

Thanks to the success of rappers Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, YG, and others, the West Coast finds itself at the center of the hip-hop universe once again, with Sage the Gemini and his Heartbreak Gang (HBK for short) representing the Bay Area's contribution. Channeling their hyphy forefathers of yesteryear, Sage, Iamsu!, and their fellow HBK members became viral sensations in 2013 on the strength of tracks like "Gas Pedal" and "Red Nose," playful "crunk&B" anthems that double as dance-move tutorials (FYI, parents: yiking is the new twerking). Both are included on Sage's debut, Remember Me, alongside such trunk-bursting fare as the slinking "College Drop" and the roiling "Down on Your Luck," which features talented R&B upstart August Alsina. As compared to his gangsta-leaning colleagues to the south, Sage embodies the anything-goes exuberance of Bay Area rap. He's a streetwise lothario with a goofy sense of humor. Sample line: "Her dude mad 'cause I spooned, but I don't give a fork."
