Quién Contra Mí 2

Quién Contra Mí 2

Not long before his seminal duo with fellow reggaetonero Wisin scored their first of many hits with 2005’s “Rakata,” Yandel released his first solo album Quien Contra Mí. For this unexpected yet extremely welcome sequel, he revisits one of that project’s enduring classics with an updated version of “Dembow,” this time aided by the modern R&B stylings of Rauw Alejandro. Similarly, Anuel AA eagerly subs in for Wisin on the updated throwback “Por Mi Reggae Muero 2020,” a reflection on how the genre remains reverent to its past. Beyond these nostalgic remakes, several of the tracks here find the veteran teaming with a new generation indebted to the groundwork he helped lay for them, including Jhay Cortez on the thumping “Ponme al Día” and Ozuna on the poppier “Se Viste y Se Maquilla.”
