I'm Just a Song

Matt Scullion has been busy in Nashville writing songs for artists like Travis Collins and Adam Harvey. Here, he steps back behind the mic in a wisecracking album about drinking away his troubles–or, at least, trying to. “He was talking loud/And I was drinking Crown/We were both too gone and a bit too proud,” he sings on “Been There Drunk That,” a sorry look back at a bar night gone bad. Despite the album’s gloomy themes, Scullion has hope. “Outta My Own Way” finds him facing himself and asking for forgiveness.
