The lilting, organic quality of MMOTHS' music is wrought with electronics yet curiously natural. Perhaps growing up in the greenery of Ireland inspired the expansive acoustic space heard on the Diaries EP. While there's no shortage of crisp, lighthanded beatsmithing, nature seems ever-present in the arrangements. The sounds of water and rain mix with the hiss of tape and the rattling of a tin, leaving listeners never quite sure if what they're hearing is synthesized or sampled. Ephemeral, affecting vocals add an extra emotive layer to the beguiling MMOTHS world, rooting to the sparse percussion that wisps in and out of the mix. Like watching clouds pass on a windy day, the Diaries EP is imbued with a sense of wonder, reminding us to slow down and simply enjoy the moment.
