ONE GANGLAND EMPIRE. TWO FEUDING BROTHERS. A SECRET THAT COULD DESTROY THEM ALL.
Daisy Lane is battling to keep her son, Jamie, under control. His older brother Eddie is about to come out of prison after a stretch for manslaughter, and his release couldn't come soon enough.
In Eddie's absence, Jamie has matured from a tearaway teenager into a hardened criminal with a psychotic edge. He's responsible for the death of Roy's mistress along with a string of other violent episodes. Only Eddie can keep his young brother from acting out his darkest desires.
As Eddie emerges from prison, he finds that the world has moved on. The criminal underworld is tougher with fewer allegiances than ever before. Eddie decides to reject Roy's offer of help and instead go it alone, setting up his own gang - who plan the most audacious heist Britain has seen in decades.
Will Eddie manage to pull it off? Or will his brother be his undoing?

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Soap opera fans will best appreciate Hampson's sixth Daisy Lane novel set in 1983 London and Gosport (after 2010's Jail Bait). Daisy's joy at the impending release of her 21-year-old son, Eddie, who spent five years behind bars for knifing a man who was trying to kill her, is tempered by her fear that it will reignite a longstanding feud between Eddie and his half-brother, Jamie, her son by a Scotland Yard inspector. To lessen the chances of a violent confrontation between the two, Daisy turns for help to her lover, organized crime boss Roy Kemp, who has succeeded the notorious Krays as "London's most feared gangster." Once free, Eddie schemes to pull off a huge score to demonstrate his larcenous chops, a plan jeopardized once Jamie gets wind of it. A rivalry centered on the brothers' attractive female cousin develops predictably. The contrived, unrealistic ending will disappoint anyone expecting a Godfather movie payoff .
