Shot and set in Kazakhstan, Diamond Cartel follows a mad kingpin (Armand Assante) in search of a particularly big score. The soundtrack—most of it back-catalog selection—is an unusual blend of ‘70s hard rock (Nektar, Captain Beyond) and contemporary dubstep (Backburner, Space Temple), with hints of goth (Christian Death), hardcore (Anti-Nowhere League), and rap (DMX). It’s an appropriately high-octane but spaced-out set that suits the movie’s atmosphere.
